Firstly let me apologize for not keeping the BLOG updated over the past several months. This was partially out of a necessity to maintain our family situations and to cover all the things that were needed there as well as to keep up with the work of CBM and the EBF. It was certainly not for lack of interest or for us not wanting to keep people in the loop.
So here is a short summary of where things are now:
1) Deann finished her treatment at the end of November and the good news was that over the next few months and tests, was found to be cancer free. She must go back for regular checks and tests for the next years. Part of the problem was that the extensive or corrosive nature of the chemotherapy has degraded into a neuropathy that has caused her (what we think maybe) permanent nerve damage in her feet. This has been elevated through medication prescribed by a neurologist who she sees on a regular basis. Time will tell if it will alleviate this painful condition. The medication side effects cause dizziness and exhaustion. So the cure sometimes is almost as bad as the ailment.
2) Zachary is about to write his finals in grade 12. He has been accepted to Crandall University where he will study a BA/BTh with both Acadia and Crandall. He hopes to get into education in his second year but will see how he fares in his first year of university starting in September.
3) Matthew starts Junior High next year (grade 6) at Riverside school and will miss his big brother immensely. He has been involved in a lot of after school sports and wants to be a PE teacher someday.
4) We are getting ready for Home Assignment in Canada starting June 8th until the end of August. There is much to do to prepare and Barb Keys at CBM is handling all our speaking engagements at the moment so if there is interest in having us come or grabbing a cup of coffee please feel free to contact her.
5) Horizons and the EBF work is full steam ahead and there are many meetings and training events going on. I will be in Sofia Bulgaria next weekend doing a Horizons Training event. The week after speaking at a pastors conference in Hungary. Then the Acadia/EBF Youth leaders institute will be hosted here in Czech Republic with Iain Hoskins as or guest instructor. Then Zachary's graduation and "poof" we are in Canada (Ontario for the month of June and then off to Maritimes for the rest of the summer for speaking.
6) Pray for stamina... for energy... for inspiration... for health and for travel mercy on all fronts. We don't want to arrive exhausted to Canada but for sure we will be in need of a change and some much needed break in our home country for a while.
