Freedom.....

Today is the 21st anniversary since the revolution for freedom from communism and the occupation of the Czech Republic.  The Czech Republic has undergone enormous change in this short time.  A country trying to find its way on the international stage,  a new member of the European Union, Nato and the Shengam zone...  when we came to live here it had only been 12 years since the "Velvet Revolution" and we could see a country struggling to gain identity and direction... today its certainly moving along at lightening speed in some areas and in other areas it is a snails pace...  We have learned to be thankful for the changes that have made our life easier, no borders around the Czech Republic has made it so much easier to travel without border checks and crossings...  yet its almost impossible to have long term volunteers who want to stay over three months to get a visa now.  We enjoy having more access to products that we once enjoyed in Canada, yet the economy has taken off so rapidly that costs are almost 30% and more costly...  with rapid change comes growing pains... we can not imagine what the next 5 years will be like but we know that there will be change.... and likely lots of it...
