Dog Days...

Well yesterday was a sad day but a sense of relief that we were able to find a home for our beloved chocolate lab Goober.  For those who have visited us, many have been "introduced" to our extroverted pet of five years.

This year we became painfully aware that the cost of putting Goober in a kennel for three months, while we go home for home assignment with CBM, that it was going to be (even at the cheapest option of $800) more than we could afford.

We also felt that he needed to be in a home that would provide more for his need to be out running and walking a lot more than we can do.  So after months of agonizing we finally advertised and had several people inquire before we settled on a young man who is from Greece studying and working in Prague who lost his dog several years ago and who fell in love with Goober immediately.

So yesterday we moved him into his new flat with five people and two cats!  He was a hit instantly with the household (not so much with the cats).  He has a nice park next to the flat that he will get to walk in...  his new owner is anxious to take him to work and everywhere he can... so we are marvelling that our "country pooch" now will become a city dog with lots of loving owners.  The kids have handled it well and still having our Yorkie helps (who we have someone that can take him for the summer).  We will take the kids to see where Goober lives this week (they are on school break) to help them with closure.  We are happy, relieved but sad at the same time.
